In 2004 when the steel industry of Gary, Indiana met a sharp decline, a few dozen schools were forced to close their doors. Thomas A Edison Junior High School - more commonly known as Edison Middle School - was no exception to these events. The decreased tax revenue forced the city to shut down many of it's aspects, resulting in hundreds of people moving away. With no one left to attend the schools, they were left forgotten and abandoned to rot.
