Horace Mann High School

Built in 1928, Horace Mann High School was once a learning space to roughly two and a half thousand students. The school was a very popular choice and continued to grow throughout the years until the 60s when the steel industry in Gary began to decline. Tax revenue of the city declined and so did population. By 2003, Horace Mann only had 546 students to teach and in 2004, the school closed it's doors permanently due to the diminished school population and budgetary constraints.
